Congratulations on your acceptance to East Georgia State College and welcome to Bobcat Nation! As an incoming FIRST-YEAR, FRESHMAN, TRANSFER, TRANSIENT or POSTBACCALAUREATE student, you’ll need to complete some, if not al, of the next steps for accepted students listed below.

First Steps

Complete these steps as soon as possible after you’ve been accepted to East Georgia State so you’ll be ready for the first day of classes.

As a part of the admission and orientation process, students must take the Reading, Writing, and Mathematics Accuplacer assessments to be placed in the appropriate English and Math courses. Students may be exempted from taking the placement test should they provide SAT or ACT scores or prior college credit.  The Accuplacer tests administered are Reading, Writing, and Quantitative Reasoning, Algebra, and Statistics. It is a good idea to prepare for these tests. Here are some study resources: http://accuplacer.collegeboard.org/students/prepare-for-accuplacer/practice

Visit the Schedule An Exam page to get started.

Testing is required prior to your orientation date.

Your student ID was assigned to you when you applied to the college. It is a nine-digit number that begins with 930. If you do not know your student ID number, please look at the email or letters sent to you from our office.

Upon acceptance to East Georgia State College, you are issued a unique myEGSC username. Please note your username can be recognized as the first portion of your email address before the @ symbol. For example, if the email address is jsmith123@ghaarch.com then the username will be jsmith123. To find your username, please follow the instructions sent to your email.

Should you have any trouble accessing your account, please contact the IT help desk at 478-289-2004 or csworkFREEOMNIUPDATE.

Your username is different from your student ID number. It will take about 48–72 hours after acceptance before you can use your new username to access the system.

Login to myEGSC, East Georgia’s student information portal, for information about your student file, registration, financial aid, advisor, grades, and more.

If you need further assistance, please contact EGSC IT at 478-289-2004 or csworkFREEOMNIUPDATE.

Make sure to explore all the tools, applications, and learn to navigate the portal so you will be familiar with its use.

Check your email at least once a day!

Our Orientation modules are an efficient, virtual introduction to life at East Georgia State. Once you complete virtual Orientation, you’ll be prompted to submit a pre-registration survey AND register for an in-person New Student Orientation (NSO) date. New students are not able to register themselves for classes and must attend NSO to get a schedule.

Visit the Orientation page to get started.

Your application for financial aid can also verify your citizenship.

Get started with your FAFSA application and but sure to add East Georgia’s FAFSA code of 010997

This application will determine if you’re eligible for all federal and state aid programs. You’re encouraged to submit a FAFSA, even if you think you’re not eligible for federal aid programs, because this application will review your eligibility for the HOPE Scholarship and other financial aid opportunities.

Visit our financial aid website for information about scholarships.

If you wish to live in on-campus housing, please visit the Housing page. On-campus housing is currently only available to students attending the Swainsboro campus.

Students attending the Statesboro or Augusta locations will need to obtain housing in the area on their own.

To receive in-state tuition, you must provide verification of lawful presence in the United States prior to the start of the term. Students who are considered undocumented, international, DACA, TPS, etc. cannot qualify for in-state tuition.

For a list of acceptable documentation, visit the Verification of Lawful Presence page.

Please refer to your official acceptance letter. If you are classified as out-of-state and wish to receive instate tuition, you must complete a Residency Correction form or appropriate waiver along with required documentation. For more information, please call the Admissions Office at 478-289-2017.

Waivers: If you have 12 months consecutive residence in Aiken or Edgefield County, South Carolina, you should complete a border county waiver form. If you have 12 months consecutive residence in Alabama, Florida, or South Carolina, you should complete a border state waiver form. If you are a military service member, you may also be eligible for a waiver. For more information on waivers, please visit our Waivers and Tuition Classification page.

In order for your financial aid funds to be used to pay for your Tuition and Fees or to be used in the book store (electronic Book Voucher) you must first "Authorize" East Georgia State College to use your funds to pay on your account. Federal Aid and Hope Aid are authorized separately. If you elect not to let EGSC use your financial aid for tuition and fees, you will be required to pay out of pocket any tuition and fees owed by the fee payment deadline or your courses will be dropped.

Before you can register for classes, you will need to complete the Student Financial Responsibility Agreement, which acknowledges your understanding that you are responsible for the payment of all tuition, fees, and other associated costs.

Please check your CatMail for instructions.

Your CatCard is your official student ID card and can be obtained at Orientation after you have been registered for classes. Please visit the Submit Student ID Photo page for more information.

Show all credits and the date of your high school graduation. Submit an official college transcript if you attended another university or college through a dual enrollment program with final grades posted.

Military personnel, their spouses, and their dependent children may be able to receive military benefits to pay for their tuition here at East Georgia. For more information, please visit the Veterans and Military page.
East Georgia works to accommodate students with disabilities. If you have a disability and require special services, please contacting the Office of Counseling and Accessibility Services by calling 478-289-2039.

Tuition payment plans break down your tuition balance into affordable monthly payments. There’s no interest, payment options are flexible, setup fees are affordable, and it’s easy to enroll! Students who have not received their financial aid by the first day of class or on move-in day, or those that plan on paying out of pocket for their tuition are encouraged to register for the Nelnet tuition payment plan to prevent being dropped from their classes.

This can only be done once the student has been registered for classes.

Familiarize yourself with our many student clubs and organizations on any of our three campuses before arriving. From chess and leadership to the performing arts and politics, there’s a group for every interest.
